Decision Drill

Have a decision you want help with? Create a new decision drill:

How it works

A decision drill consists of two stages: nomination and voting.

During nomination, participants are free to add any alternatives they think might be useful. Participants can also second (+1) existing alternatives. When nomination closes, only alternatives that have been seconded are carried over to voting. Nomination closes automatically after a week, but it can also be closed manually by the drill creator.

The purpose of the nomination stage is brainstorming, i.e. thinking creatively to come up with left-field solutions that might help.

After nomination, voting opens. At this stage, each participant has three votes they can assign freely to the remaining alternatives. Votes can be spread out or concentrated or split however each participant desires. Voting closes automatically after a week, but it can also be closed manually by the drill creator.

The purpose of voting is to contract again, and narrow focus onto the most promising few solutions. Hopefully, by the end of voting, a few clear winners emerge and efforts can focus on studying those solutions first.

When voting has closed, the final results are displayed for everyone for a week, after which they are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. Do not rely on this tool to save your results!
